Purple Berry Smoothie Bowl

Smoothies and smoothie bowls are pretty much their own food group for me, as I know they are for a lot of people. They are quick, healthy, and highly customizable – a winning combo for busy ladies everywhere! The problem is that I tend to make the same smoothie recipe over and over because it’s my favorite, and the reason that’s no good is that if I keep it up eventually I will wear it out until I can’t drink it anymore and I don’t want that to happen.

Where am I going with this? To prevent burn out on my favorite smoothie recipe I decided to experiment and try some new things, the result of which is this  Purple Berry Smoothie Bowl. I started to name it Purplicious Berry Smoothie Bowl but that was hard to type, so I took the lazy way out and went for the easy-to-read option.

My other favorite smoothie bowl? This Tropical Green Smoothie Bowl recipe is fantastic.

I love smoothie bowls because you get all the health and yum of a regular smoothie with extra fun of toppings! It’s like creating your ice cream sundae. I was always that kid that had a little ice cream with my toppings, so you can see how this aspect of smoothie bowls would appeal to me. For this recipe I usually use fresh berries and some sliced almonds for a little extra crunch. Other suggestions: other nuts, chia seeds, granola, or sunflower seeds. If you have other topping ideas, let me know! Have I mentioned I love toppings?

Two other side notes: 1. Purple is my favorite color, so the rich purple color of this smoothie is a thing of beauty to me. 2. If you are in the market for a blender to meet all your smoothie needs I can’t recommend the Ninja Duo Auto-IQ blender enough. I use the smoothie cups probably at least five days a week, they are the love of my life.
