Stand Tall, Molly Lou Melon

Molly Lou Melon is a tiny girl with a big soul. Her grandmother told her to be herself, no matter what other people might say, and she is determined to do just that. Not even a new school and a bully named Ronald Durkin can stop Molly Lou Melon from shining, even if she is short and clumsy with buck teeth.

It would be impossible to choose a favorite feature of this book. I love the bright, quirky illustrations and the spunk that Molly Lou Melon cheerfully displays in spite of all her shortcomings. I love the funny writing:

“Molly Lou Melon had a voice that sounded like a bullfrog being squeezed by a boa constrictor.”

These pages make my 2 and 4 year old laugh every time.

This was a treasure from a Dolly Parton Imagination Library subscription. My girls love getting new books in the mailbox each month! If you have little ones and don’t know about the Imagination Library I implore you to check it out! We have read Stand Tall, Molly Lou Melon bunches of times and since they both still love it, I predict bunches more.
