The Road Back to You: An Enneagram Journey to Self-Discovery

The Road Back to You: An Enneagram Journey to Self-Discovery

Long established as a way to categorize personalities and tendencies, the enneagram is astoundingly accurate but can be overwhelming to begin with. The Road Back to You: An Enneagram Journey to Self-Discovery is an excellent introduction to the world of enneagram. Ian Morgan Cron writes about his own voyage through discovering the enneagram, understanding his own type, and the study he has made of it since then. He gives specific descriptions of the thoughts, emotions, and actions a person in a given category will likely experience in different situations, describes the the strengths and weaknesses of each number, and explains how to tell if you are an unhealthy, average, or healthy expresser of your number. Each chapter ends with practical tips for how the different numbers can keep themselves healthy and on track within their personality.

The enneagram has been on the periphery of my radar for a while now. It kept popping up in podcasts and blogposts and I wanted to learn more about it, I just hadn’t gotten around to investigating it – until my husband ordered this book for himself. It came in the mail and was the final push I needed to dive into the world of enneagram and now I am hooked. It was fascinating! The subject matter by itself is interesting enough, but Ian Morgan Cron’s writing is so witty and engaging that it adds a new level of enjoyment.

My husband definitely enjoyed it as well. I know this because the first chapter or two was pretty much read aloud to me until I kindly told him I didn’t want anymore spoilers. The fact that he wanted to share so much of it with me (and that I liked what I heard) was a good sign, and this book didn’t disappoint. I will be looking for more on the enneagram and from this author in future.

And by the way, after reading this book I have determined that I am a 2w1. What is your enneagram number? Drop me a comment, I would love to know!
