Green Bean Casserole

The second installment in the pre-Thanksgiving series I promised you is Green Bean Casserole. Now, I realize that this isn’t a new concept. Green Bean Casserole is traditional side dish here in the South and has been for years, so I don’t doubt that the majority of my readers have had a version of it before now. But when I think of Thanksgivings of my childhood I think of this particular recipe for Green Bean Casserole that my family has enjoyed for years and years, so I wanted to share it with you today. And its also easy to prepare, making it an excellent choice for MY FIRST EVER RECIPE VIDEO!

I’m so excited and nervous. And anxious and thrilled.

Please enjoy the video, and then scroll on down for the usual pictures and full instructions on the bottom half of this page. And please leave me some feedback! I want to know what you think about it, if you would like to see more videos, what kind of videos you would enjoy, etc. Thanks!

Green Bean Casserole
Prep time: 10 minutes
Bake time: 40 minutes
Serves 8

3 14.5 oz cans green beans, drained
1 can cream of mushroom soup
1 cup sour cream
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1 tsp garlic salt
1 1/2 cups french fried onions

Preheat oven to 350. Combine all ingredients except the onions in a bowl and then transfer to a 9×13 pan. Bake uncovered for 35 minutes, or until the casserole is bubbly all the way through.

Remove from oven and top with the fried onions, then return to the oven for 5 more minutes, to crisp up the onions.

Remove from oven and serve with turkey, Mashed Potatoes, gravy, dressing, Macaroni and Cheese, cranberry sauce, rolls, and Pineapple Casserole. Follow up with pie. Lots of pie. Maybe even Peanut Butter Pie. Or Chocolate Meringue Pie. Or any other pie, just so long as there is pie.
