Another week, another cake. I did a couple of cakes this week but this one was my favorite. This was the first time I had attempted to glitter an entire tier and also the first time I had ever made fondant ruffles. Conclusion: ruffles easy, glitter hard. I took a close up picture of the ruffles because they were so pretty, but I could only photograph the glittered tier from one side. No one needed to see the back side of it…

Here it is in it’s natural habitat, surrounded by other treats on the table at the bridal shower it was intended for.
Close up of the pretty ruffles. They were so much simpler to make than I expected them to be. Here is the tutorial I followed, in case you are feeling inspired to try it for yourself. It even includes a video, which I would recommend watching in addition to following the written instruction. This is the fondant I used and I was really happy with the texture and consistency of it for this project. Sometimes Wilton fondant seems too stiff, but in this case it was just right because it stood up to the ruffling process like a champ.
And this is an example of the pink lemonade cupcakes that were given away as prizes for games. Super simple, but super tasty, and also very cute but classy, if you ask me.
It was a fun project for a special friend, and I was happy to have the opportunity to celebrate with her!
