Just about everyone likes a good chocolate chip cookie, especially fresh out of the oven. There are a ton of good recipes for chocolate chip cookies out there in the world, and I have done my best to sample a lot of them. But I always end up back where I started, with a classic recipe that’s been around for generations. I can’t claim any part of it’s creation – Nestle Toll House takes full credit for it.

That’s right folks, the best chocolate chip cookie recipe in the world comes standard on the back of a bag of Nestle Toll House Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips. When I use this recipe I always end up with perfect, soft, chewy, chocolatey cookies.
And I’m not the only one who thinks this recipe is fantastic. Anybody else remember this episode of Friends?
Now, as far as I’m concerned these are the best, but if find yourself in the mood for cookies but not for baking, you can also make these Cake Mix Chocolate Chip Cookies. Not quite as good, but with 5 minutes of prep and half the ingredients they are definitely easier. I’m telling you this because I want to give you whatever you need to have fresh chocolate chip cookies in your life, whether you make the best ones or not. Any cookie is better than no cookie.
- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 sticks butter softened
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 3/4 cup brown sugar packed
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 2 eggs
- 1 (12 oz) package Nestle Toll House Chocolate Chips Dark, milk, or semi-sweet
- 1 cup chopped nuts optional

Preheat oven to 375º. Cream butter, sugars, and vanilla until fluffy and smooth, about 2 minutes. Beat in eggs. Beat in salt and baking soda, then add in the flour 1/2 cup at a time, beating well between each addition. Stir in chocolate chips and nuts (if desired).

Drop onto an ungreased cookie sheet in scant 1/4 cup piles and bake for 9-11 minutes, until golden brown around the edges. Cool on cookie sheet for 2-3 minutes, then remove to cooling rack or plate. Store in an airtight container.
I like to use salted butter for this recipe because I like the extra flavor, but if you don't like a lot of salt go with unsalted. I also omit the nuts because my family doesn't like them.

YES!!! An older woman at church revealed her secret of the most delicious cookies I’ve ever eaten – she said it’s the recipe on the back of the chips – except she changes the butter. Loved the ‘Friends’ video to go with this. hahaha

before even reading your post I immediately in my head read the title as “nestleyy toooollhouse” in my best phoebe voice of course. I’ve always wanted to make them but honestly anything over 5 ingredients scares me. I may just have to give it a go because I want to have the best cookie in the world in my mouth!
