If you have been blogging for quite some time now, and you have decided that you want to turn blogging from a hobby into a business, this blog post is just for you. While the transition is not always an easy one, it is an achievable one. Read on to discover some top tips on turning your blog into a money-making business.
Use sponsored content – This is a great way of going beyond the banner ad and including native advertising in your blog. The content will be paid for in promotion by brands that you consider to be very relevant to your readership. So long as it is clear the content is sponsored, users will trust your website and this is another way for them to be provided with entertainment and information. Of course, this should not replace the level of weekly content you provide yourself.
Add some professionalism to your blog – You will also need to give your blog more of a professional vibe if you intend to turn it into a business. This means having a contact page, which makes it easy for people to get in touch with you. Most people won’t want to put their own address on their blog, which is where a virtual address service comes in very useful. It enables you to display a physical address on your website, yet all mail will be conveniently emailed to you.
Create and sell merchandise – You need to look for various platforms to make money if you are serious about turning your blog into a business. One option is to create and sell merchandise. If you have a large viewership, this is a great way to make some more money while also building up your brand. You will need a memorable tagline, which can be placed on all of the items you sell. Make sure you choose items that your demographic will want. For example, if you run a fitness blog, you may choose to sell water bottles for the gym.
Videography – You will want an eye-catching visual representation of both your brand and your products or services. Use a local video company for ease of communication in content and creativity. It will also be a great way to support local community businesses and form partnerships for future opportunities.
Get paid to appear at events – Another way for you to make money as a blogger is to get paid to appear at events. A lot of people do not realise that this is possible. However, there is an entire event industry that targets bloggers as co-hosts, panellists, and speakers, and so this really is an area that is worth exploring.
Join an influencer marketing platform – And finally, you can give your revenue a huge boost by joining an influencer marketing platform. It acts as a broker of sorts between digital influencers and marketers. After all, you may as well make revenue from the social media presence you have spent so long growing.
Hopefully, you now feel more prepared for turning your blog into a business. There are many different factors that need to be taken into consideration, but if you follow these tips you will give yourself a great chance of making some cash from your blog.

All true and tested methods for monetizing blogs. Though, I don’t know where to begin to start getting paid to be a speaker at events. Do you have any tips on how to do that?
I’m still in the learning stages of that myself! As soon as a have a proven method I’ll update you 😉
I am def in this spot right now. I am trying to get sponsored content and using the blog as a portfolio for freelance writing. Also sponsored travel, since that is my niche. I have not had luck with the influencer campaign route… I know for travel blogs that is hard.
Sponsored travel would be amazing! I’m focusing on sponsored content right now too, there’s a lot for me to learn!
These are wonderful tips! Now that I’ve been blogging for more than 4 months, I’m going to start heading in the direction of more sponsored content and/or travel benefits. 🙂 I also had no clue there was a market for bloggers to get paid to attend events!!
You’re ahead me when I was 4 months in! Good luck!
Great information! I had not considered the event option. Thank you so much for sharing.
Some great tips here! Sponsored content and posts seem to be the most common way to make money but HOW NICE would it be to get paid to be at an event!!! When you figure out how to achieve this be sure to write a post 🙂
Right??? When I’ve figured it out I’ll share it with the world.
Great tips. Monetizing sometimes feels like an unattainable goal, but it’s helpful to have advice like this! Have you ever done a sponsored post?
I’ve done one contributed post – this one! Lol
