It’s February the 15th and so far this month I have completed one book.
ONE.
Do you ever go through seasons of life where you feel like you are barely treading water? I mean, nothing really bad is happening or anything, in fact there have been lots of good, exciting things! But there has just been so. much. stuff. to do and keep up with and attend and be responsible for this month. Things around my house have been busy with a capital ‘B’ and the time I would usually spend reading has been greatly reduced.
But that hasn’t stopped me from trying! I do have a couple of great books in the works, and hopefully I’ll have them all finished by the end of the month…hopefully.

Just Finished:
Of all the books to have finished this month, this was a good one. I so loved how I felt like I was right there in the French countryside and the multi-generational love stories that came together so well in the end. You can read my full review if you want to learn more, but bottom line is I really adored The Lost Castle.
In Progress:
This one is my February pick for the 2018 reading challenge. I’m intrigued by the setting and storyline, but it’s pretty long and I’ve been taking my time with it. I actually have to go renew it at the library today so cross your fingers that I don’t have to return it! I live in a pretty small town and it’s not a new release, so I’ll probably be fine, but the anxiety is still there.
I know a lot of people really like Colleen Coble but this is my first introduction to her work, and I’m duly impressed so far. This book sucked me in from the first paragraph with it’s danger, mystery, and complicated relationships, and I can’t wait to find out what exactly is going on. You can expect a review of Rainshadow Bay next Thursday, in which I will hopefully still be enthusiastic about this story. Also, how pretty is that cover?
I’m actually listening to this one on Audible, and I can honestly say it’s already changing my life. The premise that anything that isn’t an enthusiastic ‘yes’ should be an automatic ‘no’ is coloring the way I look at everything, even clothes shopping. If you haven’t read it yet, check it out. It’s so freeing to be exercising my ‘no’ muscle, because it’s been notoriously weak in the past (Is that fact at all correlated with the ridiculous amount of stuff I’m involved in right now? Hard to say for sure, but it’s definitely a possibility).
Up Next:
Now, this one isn’t set in stone, but I’m thinking it’s high time I get around to it. It’s the third book in a series that I started like five years ago. I read the first two and then we moved and things got crazy and for a long time I couldn’t remember the author or the name of the series to be able to find the last book. But I stumbled across it one day and bought it and it’s been sitting in my stack for like eight months now. It’s also pretty short, so I think it might give me an easy win feeling that would be a booster for my currently low ‘books completed count’ dejection.

I’m having a slow month too! You’re not alone. I’m reading Wild and Little Fires Everywhere for two different book clubs I’m in. Hoping your reading month improves!
Thanks, yours too! I think everyone is kind dragging through February lol
I have heard about the Lost Castle and it sounds delightful! I may have to add it to my TBR list!
Oh I loved it. Hope you do too!
Essentialism is on my bedside table. Probably not the best place for it.
I guess that just depends on the person, lol. When something makes it to my nightstand that means it’s going to be read really soon 🙂
The romance novels sound great but I’m really intrigued by Essentialism. Thanks for your takes on these, some are defiantly going on my reading list.
Great, hope you enjoy them! It sounds like an exaggeration but I really think Essentialism has life changing potential.
Great suggestions…I keep telling myself I’m going to read more, so now I need to check some of these out
Thanks, hope this helps you find some good reads!
I just read Essentialism too! SO GOOD!
Yes! Really, really good.
I love that you can make time to read. I was in a book club and used to read regularly, but kids changed that for me….
Kids made it even more important for me to read. Mama needs a break!
Essentialism sounds great! And I agree with your comment above–reading became even more important to me when I had kids!
Mama’s got to have a break sometimes 😉
