Hello, friends! It’s the 15th, and around here that means it’s time to do a little inventory of what we’ve been reading lately and what books are on the radar to read next. I personally had a great reading month in August, knocking out way more titles than I had anticipated with school starting back and all. This month has been a little slower, but I do have several books to share with you today, and I hope you’ll share what you’ve been reading as well!

Just Finished:
This book has been in my stack for months and I’m so excited that I finally read it. I love Melissa Jagears and this book really hit my sweet spot as a Christian historical fiction novel with a great message and really interesting characters.
In Progress:
A strange choice, at first glance, for some casual end of summer reading, but I’m already preparing for the Christmas/winter book list that I always publish after Thanksgiving. I have to get an early start if I’m going to read enough books to select the best ones in time! I’ll give you a heads up, this one is almost certainly going to make the cut.
The author of this book spoke at a women’s retreat at my church last month and I enjoyed hearing her story, so I purchased her book. It’s pretty short, only about 160 pages and it details her story of finding out her only brother had been killed by her nephew. It follows her grieving process and how her family came together and dealt with this terrible tragedy.
Up Next:
Where are all my working mamas? This book is for us, my friends! At least I hope. I haven’t actually started it yet, but the cover is super pretty and the subtitle promises to help us ‘lose the guilt, work smarter, and thrive’ and that sounds like exactly what I need in my life. I’ll be sure to report back after I’ve read it, but I’m expecting good things!

Jordan, hi! You’ve given me a few more to add on to the stack!
;-}
I’m glad! We can always use more books in our stacks 🙂
I’m excited to read Stretched Too Thin as well although I haven’t started it yet 🙂
I’ve only read the introduction so far but I’m starting to get the feeling like she gets me lol
I need to start reading again. Since I had my daughter the only book I have picked up has cartoon drawings on it. haha!
I think a lot of moms can relate to that lol
I need to start reading again. I always say I don’t hvae the time, but I need to make some!
You sure do! Reading is great self-care for a lot of people (like me lol).
I’ll be curious to hear what you think of Stretched Too Thin. With many books like this, I feel like they tell me what I know already and I end up feeling worse afterward because they’re rehashing the difficult parts of my life! I suppose it comes down to the advice and tips portion of the book.
I have had that experience a time or two, but usually these types of books leave me feeling inspired. Guess we’ll have to wait and see for this one!
These look some excellent books! I always enjoy learning about new books to read. Stretched Too Thin looks like it’s super helpful for everyone working so much with family, jobs, etc. Thanks for sharing this list!
You’re welcome! Hopefully you found something helpful in this list.
I’m always looking for new book suggestions! The Christmas lover in me totally wants to read that Baby It’s Cold Outside book!
You definitely should, it was great!
It’s been a long time since I read a book. I tried reading a book last month and I only read 2 chapters. For some reasons, I get really distracted. I used to read a lot a few years back. I should really start reading again.
Maybe you just haven’t found the right book for you in a while? One thing that helps me sometimes when I’m getting distracted is to listen to an audiobook because you can still do other things like driving or folding laundry to help your hands stay busy while your mind works 🙂
