What I’m Loving Lately – April 2019

Every so often I like to toss up a post with a list of a few things that are making my life a little more awesome or things that I’m looking forward to. This is great positivity practice that helps me keep my eyes open for great things to share and not get bogged down with negativity and day-to-day angst.

As always, I hope you share what you are loving in the comments! It’s so fun to interact and get good suggestions through the discussion.

Spring has sprung

There’s nothing original about this one, but I’d say many of you probably agree that the end of winter is a huge blessing. It’s so nice to shed the layers and not have to bundle up and build a campfire to make it through soccer practice. And my sweet girls bring me fistfuls of flowers almost daily, so spring is inside my house as well.

Home Office Space

I’ve have spent all of my blogging/writing career up to this point carrying my laptop back and forth from the kitchen table to the recliner to the dining room table to the bed and back. My calendars, pens, journals, etc. were spread out all over the house. Now I have everything in one localized control central and it has made a huge difference in my ability to focus and be efficient. And it’s easier for my family to tell that I’m working, because I don’t just hang out and relax at my desk – when I’m sitting there it means I’m busy.

Dallas, Texas

Recently my husband and I went on a short 3 day work trip to Dallas. Neither of us had ever been there before and we like to take trips together, so even though we didn’t really have any free time for sightseeing, etc. we still had fun and ate at some really good restaurants. My favorite was probably Meat U Anywhere (I had the brisket meat n’ bun, hubby had the pounder spud), but we also really enjoyed Benjamin’s Pizza Kitchen (we split a white pizza), Monica’s Mex-Tex Cantina (tortilla soup for me, caesar salad for the hubs), and Opening Bell Coffee (warm cinnamon rolls and lattes).

Editing my manuscript

If you’ve hung out around here at all then you should know that I adore books and that I really (really, really, really) want to publish my own someday. I’ve talked before about working on my novels and I have finally finished one that I’m super excited about. It’s one that I felt had a lot of potential the whole time I was writing it, and now as I’m beginning the editing process for the first time I’m enjoying reading through portions that I haven’t touched in a while and finding that I still have that feeling of excitement over the potential that I see there. Could I be a hopeless narcissist to think that my story-telling skills are pretty dope? Quite possibly. But hopefully not. Hopefully I will muddle through the editing process and come out on the other side with with a real book that someone will want to publish. Cross you fingers with me, friends.
