What is your favorite social media platform?

My relationship with social media has been an ever evolving journey over the years, just as I’d imagine it is with most people. I’ve been on most of the more popular platforms like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Pinterest, but my usage has gone down considerably in recent months. In fact, I would say the only platform I spend a significant amount of time on these days is Instagram and that is because I am enthralled with the ‘Bookstagram’ community.

I love the highly visual medium that Insta provides and find it very enjoyable to curate an aesthetically pleasing feed of my own, but I also really like following other bookstagrammers who have beautiful feeds with great book recommendations and commentary on readerly topics. Today I’m sharing eight of my favorite accounts to follow:

Rachael @readingbringsjoy

This is perhaps of my favorite of the bookstagram accounts I follow. If I could choose a feed to claim as my own it might be hers. I love the bright, neutral look of her photos and they way she presents her day-to-day reading life. Her username speaks for itself!

Madeleine @topshelftext

Madeleine’s feed has a similar look to the Rachael’s, but with a few more pops of color. Her photos tend to focus on just one specific book at a time and she seems to have a pretty wide reading range as far as genre.

Kerry @linesiunderline

Kerry has a beautiful feed that alternates between book photos and bookish quotes. I love how none of her photos is exactly alike but somehow they all go together so beautifully!

Holly Berfield @bookcooklook

If you like pretty covers, bright colors, and scrumptious looking food, then this is the bookstagram account for you! Holly does a great job matching each book with foods that somehow perfectly complement the colors and style of the cover.

Steph @pieladybooks

Speaking of food and books, Steph makes incredible book themed pies for the bookstagram universe to enjoy! Her pies look amazing and I’m in awe of her culinary creativity and talent. I also just heard a fantastic interview on the Sarah’s Bookshelves Live podcast where she talks about how she got started and gives a behind the scenes peek at how she makes the pies.

Jordy’s Book Club @jordys.book.club

Jordan posts pretty much daily and typically features multiple books per photo. His feed is bright and colorful and he often features giveaways and facilitates discussions. He was also a podcast guest recently.

Bringing Up Books @bringingupbooks

Of all the accounts I follow, I think Bringing Up Books is the one that mostly closely reflects my personal reading tastes. Almost every book she posts is one I’ve already read or have plans to read, so when she posts one I haven’t heard of before I immediately add it to my list as one I’ll probably enjoy.

Mr. Eder the Reader @mrederthereader

Mr. Eder is fairly new to bookstagram and I’ve been enjoying watching him build up a feed. I think he is the only account I follow that specifically features YA and middle grade books and he has some great recommendations within those genres.

Those are a few of my favorites, and I hope if you are looking for someone to follow on Instagram that you will consider following me @readeatrepeat1 as well. Are you a bookstagrammer? Drop your username in the comments so we can all go check you out!
