A book about baking? I’m in! The Amish Baker’s Rival is a sweet love story that will make your mouth water. It’s also only 224 pages in mass market paperback form, so it’s perfect for when you want to relax with a book without making a huge time commitment.

While I wouldn’t say this book has any literary awards in it’s future, it is an entertaining story that would hand to a friend. It had a few twists in the last couple of chapters that I wasn’t expecting, including the ending itself. The biggest draw for me really was the food. All the baking descriptions made me want to go bake some cupcakes, a pie, or a strudel! There’s even an easy recipe included at the end that looks really yummy.

This book is the perfect size for a stocking stuffer, so if you have some shopping left to do for a friend or family member who likes to read and bake, The Amish Baker’s Rival would be a good choice.
