Never Miss is the first Melissa Koslin book I’ve ever read (I think it’s her debut?) and I picked it up for two reasons. One, I loved the cover. It looks like a suspenseful, action-packed story and that is exactly what it is. The other reason I was attracted to it is because I am fascinated by diseases, pandemics, and biological warfare. When I see the word ‘Ebola’ I’m automatically all in. Not sure what that says about me, but it’s true!
If you like suspense, you might also like Nine by Rachelle Dekker.
I wish we would have gotten a little bit more of the science surrounding Lyndon’s research, but other than that I thought it was a pretty solid story. I realize that’s a matter of personal opinion since I have a background in science and that might not appeal to the majority of other readers. One thing I did like was how realistic and kick-booty the fight scenes were, presumably owed to the fact that the author is a black belt in Taekwondo. I love it when authors are able to bring an area of expertise and let it shine in their novels, and that’s exactly what happened with Never Miss.
Never Miss is a fast-paced suspense story with enough twists to keep you reading. I would say it leans over the line towards romantic suspense since there is an instant attraction between the two main characters, but the romance is not overwhelming. All things considered, I would give this book two thumbs up.
