There is a famous quote by C. S. Lewis that goes, “A children’s story that can only be enjoyed by children is not a good children’s story in the slightest.”
This is a sentiment I heartily agree with! I enjoy books in a variety of genres, which certainly includes books for kids, and I always look forward to Middle Grade March.
What is Middle Grade March?
It’s pretty much exactly what it sounds like. Those who participate read books intended for middle grade readers (ages 8-12ish) in the month of March. This looks different for everyone. Some people like to go all in and read only middle grade, while others focus on incorporating more middle grade books into their TBR while still enjoying other genres. I fall into the second camp. Generally, I choose five or six books from this category that I intend to read in March, but I always reserve the right to read more than that or quit a book I’m not enjoying.
My first year participating in this challenge was 2020 and I read six middle grade books in March of that year. In 2021 I forgot about the Middle Grade March and skipped it accidentally, much to my chagrin. Last year, I read eight books, including the six on this list. This year I have seven books on my list.
