What makes a perfect quick and easy healthy snack or breakfast on the go and only takes ten minutes to make? If you answered Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Power Balls then ding-ding! You are a winner, my friend.
These power balls are both a blessing and a curse. On the one hand, they taste great and they are a super easy way to get some protein and fiber on the go. On the other hand, every time I turn around they are gone again, which is kind of annoying. I say all that to say this: when you make your power balls you might consider making a double batch.
One of my favorite ways to eat power balls is as an accompaniment to a smoothie. My kids favorite time to eat them is right after school (or any other time, to be honest). Since they’ve been such a hit I’m currently brainstorming a few more variations to try. I feel like power balls could take the world by storm and I want to be ready. I’m thinking maybe something extra chocolatey? Maybe something with maple and cinnamon flavors? Coconut and walnut chunks? The possibilities are endless.
- 1/2 cup peanut butter
- 3 tbsp honey
- 1/4 tsp vanilla
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 1/4 cup oatmeal
- 1/3 cup chocolate chips
-
Line a small baking sheet with wax paper and set aside. Stir together wet ingredients plus salt, until smooth. Add in oatmeal and chocolate chips and stir again until completely combined. Use your hands to roll the mixture into 12 even balls and place them on the lined pan. Refrigerate until firm, about 30 minutes.
These power balls can be stored in the refrigerator or at room temperature, but we prefer them chilled because they hold their shape better and are a little less messy to eat.
I was sitting at work before lunch this morning thinking I need to find a recipe like this because I always get so hungry in the afternoon and then here I find This! These look so amazing.
That’s awesome! Lol. Hope you try them, they are pretty tasty!
I have some GF oats in the pantry. I’m going to make up a batch of these tonight!
Awesome! Hope you enjoy them!

Hope you enjoy!
These look so good! What a perfect snack – especially for PB lovers like me! 😉
Exactly! We are major PB lovers here.
I don’t even know how, but I have never tried or made energy balls before and I seriously need to! They look so incredibly easy to make and I’m sure they’re just as yummy too 🙂
They are both easy and yummy, and I’m hoping to have a few other recipes for them up soon because they are so convenient!
I like that no mixer is needed and they don’t need to be cooked. They look like the perfect post-run snack.
Yep, super low maintenance!
These look easy and great. I’ll be trying these soon.
Awesome, hope you like them!
Yum! My husband was wanting to make granola bars yesterday but felt daunted by the task. These are perfect! I even have all of the ingredients already! Woohoo! These will be waiting for him after work.
Thanks for joining #WanderingWednesday!
Major wife points coming your way 😉
I made these with my daughter, only Instead of oats I used my homemade granola (really any seeds you have in the pantry) http://www.fittritious.com/superseed-everything-granola/
That’s a great idea!
Wow, these seem so easy to make…and delicious to eat! I’ve been craving cookies lately, but I can’t convince myself to bake some, but these seem perfect! I LOVE peanut butter and chocolate!
#wanderingwednesday
These are perfect for that! They’re a little sweet like a cookie, but no baking!
It’s so amazing that such a simple recipe could be so great but they are! I’ve used dates before as the sweetener and almond butter. I have one kid who’s not a fan of too much peanuts butter. Lol
That sounds delicious! I would like to try it with almond butter, but I’m in the reverse situation from you – I have a kid who doesn’t care for almond butter lol
I need to get me some of these made up! Yum!
Hope you try them, they’re yummy!
Healthy and yummy! Pinned! Thanks for sharing at Friday Frenzy!
Thanks for hosting!
Do you happen to have a nutrition breakdown for these lovelies?
Sorry, I don’t. I leave it up to readers to determine nutritional value since we all use slightly different products in recipes.
This recipe was so easy and they are so good thank you.
Thank you! I’m so glad you liked them, they are a favorite around here!
What type of oatmeal do you use? I have steel cut in my pantry but I’m worried they’ll be too “raw” for the kiddos. Thank you!
I use quick oats. I’ve never tried steel cut with this recipe so I’m not sure if it would work well or not.
would you happen to know the calorie count of these?
Sorry, I don’t. I’m not a big calorie counter so I don’t usually take time to work that out.
