Here lately I have become the self appointed smoothie queen. I’ve always liked them but since I got my new Ninja blender I absolutely cannot get enough of them. Recently I shared my recipe for a Carrot Citrus Smoothie to kick off the Sneaking in Veggies series we are doing this month, and today I want to share my new favorite! I love, love, love (love!) this Cherry Chocolate Spinach Smoothie and I know you will too.

And lest you doubt how much nutrition is packed into this treat, this is what one cup of tightly packed spinach looks like on a full sized dinner plate. It’s pretty much an entire salad in one little chocolate smoothie.
Add all ingredients in the order listed below and blend till smooth (about 20 – 30 seconds does it for my blender, but yours might be different). That’s it!
Cherry Chocolate Spinach Smoothie
Prep Time: 5 minutes
Serves 1
1 cup (tightly packed) fresh baby spinach
3/4 cup frozen black cherries
3 Tbsp cocoa powder
2 Tbsp honey
1 1/2 cups almond milk or skim milk
Place the ingredients in your blender in the order listed and blend till smooth (about 20-30 seconds for my blender). Serve immediately and enjoy as a nutrient rich, low calorie breakfast, lunch, or snack.

My spinach is coming on strong in the garden so this is perfect timing. Plus Love to sneak in something healthy.
You have to be sneaky sometimes 🙂
I would never think to have a cherry chocolate spinach smoothie. However, it does sound pretty enticing! I’ll totally try making it!
It’s my favorite! And a tip for if you like it thicker or want to add in some healthy fats is to throw in a few slices of avocado. It tastes like pudding if you put in enough to make it really thick. I just discovered that this morning!
A big YES to all of these. YUM!! This looks fantastic.
Thanks! Hope you try it and love it!
My kids will eat this, so it’s safe to say I’ll be needing LARGE bags of spinach! Great idea with the addition of the cocoa powder.
Yes! I buy the huge 16oz box of fresh spinach every week or two and use it for all sorts of salads and recipes until it starts to look a little wilty and then I just throw the rest in the freezer to use until I go to the store again.
I’ve always been curious about those Ninja blenders – and the combination of tastes in this recipe 🙂
This is my second Ninja blender and it is wonderful. I would recommend it to anyone who is shopping for a new blender.
This looks really good! I will have to try this out!
Hope it turns out yummy for you!
I love smoothies, will definitely add this to my recipe list thank you!
Me too, and you’re welcome! Hope it turns out yummy for you!
What a cool combo! I love smoothies but have never mixed chocolate with spinach! Definitely trying!
It’s so good, you can’t taste the spinach at all!
This sounds SO amazing. I dropped the ball with smoothies and will add this back to the list.
Smoothies are my go-to. What else can you make in 5 minutes that is full of fruits and vegetables and tastes delicious?
wow, such a great idea. i love smoothies but never considered this recipe. thanks
You’re welcome, hope you enjoy it!
Yum, yum, yum! I love this and it sounds really healthy. I am growing spinach in my new garden so this is perfect! Pinning. 🙂
Fresh spinach! I didn’t put out a garden this year, enjoy yours! And thanks for pinning 🙂
That sounds so good! I haven’t had many veggie shakes, but this looks great!
You can’t taste the veggie part at all, so I think you will like it!
