Smoothie bowls are all the rage these days, have you noticed? My social media feeds are full of smoothie bowl pictures and I really like it. I love seeing the million and three different combinations that people come up with to make these pretty and healthy meals, and I felt so inspired that I created and tested a smoothie bowl recipe of my own to share. And since the first three ingredients give it a rich green hue in addition to a refreshing tropical zing, I have dubbed it Tropical Green Smoothie Bowl.
This recipe makes enough smoothie base for one large bowl or two smaller ones. I would recommend increasing the toppings if you want to split it up, because the toppings are what make it so fun! There needs to be plenty to share. And if you want to enjoy it on the go you can also make this as a regular smoothie by leaving off the toppings and increasing the liquid by 1/4 cup or so. Slap a lid and straw on it and hit the road!
Look at all those yummy, healthy ingredients just waiting to be joined together.
Also, my kids picked daisies and I love daisies.
- 1/2 ripe avocado
- 1 kiwi peeled and quartered
- 1 cup fresh baby spinach
- 1 1/2 cups frozen pineapple chunks
- 1 1/2 cups orange juice
- 1/2 cup almond milk
- 1/4 cup shredded coconut
- 1 kiwi peeled and sliced
-
Place the first six ingredients in your blender and blend until smooth (about 20-30 seconds in my blender). Pour into a bowl and top with the shredded coconut and remaining kiwi. Enjoy immediately.
I haven’t tried smoothie bowls yet (I know! I’m behind the times) but this looks like a great place to start!
This was my first smoothie bowl too, so you aren’t much farther behind than I was lol
This looks SO good. I have never heard of smoothie bowls before, but it looks amazing and SO healthy!
They are so fun because you can add toppings to it like the kiwi and the coconut! I still like regular smoothies when I’m in a hurry though because you can just stick a straw in them and go!
I have never had a smoothie bow, but I have always wanted to try them. This one looks delicious!
It’s my first! They are so fun.
This looks so good! Perfect for a hot summer day.
I love smoothie bowls so much, it’s like having everything that you need in arms reach. I am going to have to make this, it looks delicious!
I frequently make smoothie bowls. This one is such a beautiful green! It is such a great way to pack in the nutrition and feel like you’re having dessert for breakfast.
That’s exactly what it feels like!
This looks and sounds absolutely delicious!! I love sneaking spinach in to tropical smoothies 😉
I pretty much never make a smoothie without spinach anymore, it’s so wonderful in smoothies!
Okay this looks AMAZING! So making this over the long weekend!

This looks SO good. A perfect way to start the day!
This was wonderfully explained and the images are amazing. I will definitely try this recipe!
Thank you! Hope you enjoy it!
This looks so good! I’ve bought smoothie bowls before, but now I’m totally interested in making my own.
It’s so fun! You can add whatever (and however much) toppings you want!
Yum! I make smoothies all the time but never experiment with them! Chocolate, peanut butter, banana – no variation. This looks really yummy though! I can not stand coconut shavings like that but man, it sure is pretty 🙂
Chocolate/peanut butter/banana is the only kind my husband likes! I can’t stand yucky, slimy bananas myself lol 😉
You make green look so yummy! Any good ideas that go with this other than the pineapple? I’m allergic. But otherwise this sounds delicious and so healthy!
A lot of people like bananas in smoothies, or maybe you could try a berry of some kind? Berries will probably change the color of it, but I bet they’d taste good!
That looks delicious! Can you taste the avocado? I’d love to share it with my family, but my husband is pro at picking out that sort of thing 😉
I can’t taste it at all over the orange juice, pineapple, and kiwi. I think you can sneak it by him 😉
That sounds really good! What a yummy combination. I have had lots of smoothies but never a BOWL!
I love smoothie bowls! The toppings are so fun and make it feel more satisfying.
I thought that was rice at first (I need to put on my glasses!) and was like, Eh, no way. Then I realized it was coconut and was like, Heck yeah!
Looks yummy!

Um, yeah, no to the rice in my smoothie ha ha
This is awesome! I have never heard of smoothie bowls before this, but my daughter has a lot of food allergies and needs her foods pureed. This would be excellent for her. Thank you for introducing me to these. #Wanderingwednesday
You’re so welcome, I hope they help in your situation!
