Heat oil in a pan over medium heat and pat salmon dry with a paper towel. Place in the hot oil and season to taste with pepper. Cook for 3-4 minutes. In the meantime, combine the soy sauce, honey, and garlic powder in a small bowl and set aside.
Flip to the other side and cook for 1-2 more minutes, then pour the sauce over top and contine cooking for about another minute to let the sauce thicken. Use a spoon to stir and drizzle the thickening sauce over the salmon as it cooks.
Once sauce has thickened and fish is cooked through remove from heat and serve immediately.
