Hi all! Who’s ready for another installment of Books in Progress? I must be crazy because even though I have insane amounts of stuff going on right now with work, vacation bible school, and more, I have four books that I’m currently working on. Four! This technically breaks my rule of not reading more than three at one time, and I don’t really have any justification or excuse. There were just too many books calling my name and I couldn’t walk away.
I have a problem. Not really, don’t send help.

Just Finished:
This is the first in a series that I was introduced to earlier this year when I reviewed Troubled Waters, which was actually the fourth book in that series. I can’t put these books down! I love the drama, adventure, funny lines, and following this group of friends as they pair up and grow through their issues together.
In Progress:
The next book in the Montana Rescue series. I told you, I can’t stop! I’m probably (almost definitely) going to read the whole series this summer if I can get away with it.
A childhood favorite, I am re-reading this one for the reading challenge. I am pleased to report that I was enchanted from the first paragraph despite this being probably the fifth time I’ve read this book. If you’ve never read it, please give it a try! It’s delightful.
I know I’ve mentioned a time or two that I’m a Melanie Dickerson fan and this book is her newest, releasing on June 26th. I love how she takes a basic fairy tale and turns it into a story that feels real but with all the elements of romance, adventure and royalty that make fairy tales so much fun. Look for a review for this one soon!
Just to give you fair warning, this one will probably be included in Books in Progress posts for the next few months because I’m listing to it on audio. Why is that significant? Because this audiobook clocks in at just under 42 hours, y’all. But if you aren’t put off by the length, you should check out this fascinating and detailed biography of our first president.
Up Next:
I read my first Colleen Coble book earlier this year and really enjoyed it, so I’m excited to read this one. She writes mysteries that I find to be intriguing without being gruesome or creepy. And I love how pretty the covers on her books are!

I just reread The Lord of the Rings series, but its been a long time since I read The Hobbit. Might be time for a reread of that too!
Absolutely! You can’t truly enjoy LOTR without the backstory in The Hobbit.
I love the Hobbit. That’s awesome you’ve read it five times. I think I might need revisit it this summer. I’ve never read the Lord of the Rings series though. I’ve only seen the movies. To be honest, the books intimidate me.
The Hobbit is the easiest to read, followed by the Fellowship of the Ring. After that they get a little denser, but still manageable! I read them in middle school/early high school so I’m confident you can handle them 🙂
You’ve been reading some great stuff! I’m ashamed to say I haven’t been reading a whole lot lately – it’s tough when I’m so busy with the kids. It’s nice to have some good inspiration for books to read though.
It is definitely hard to fit it in around kids, but it helps keep me sane so I squeeze it in where I can!
These all seem super interesting and I haven’t read any of these yet. Have to go and pick up the HObbit and saltwater one for sure.
I can’t speak for Saltwater yet, but I definitely recommend The Hobbit.

The George Washington book is probably so interesting. I saw Hamilton last fall and realized there was way more to their lives than I thought!
