What I’m Loving Lately – August 2018

It’s time for one of my favorite things: my monthly loving lately post where I share the things that are making my life extra awesome right now. Usually I would post this on the last or next-to-last day of the month – but this month I’m on top of things and I don’t want to lose my momentum! I’m almost scared to say it out loud for fear of jinxing it, but for the last few weeks I’ve been in the zone in my blogging, family, and work life. I’ve been planning ahead and getting things done like crazy, so I decided to just embrace it and publish what I’m loving a few days early this month.

So without further ado, here are three things I’m loving:

New School Year Routine

If I had to hazard a guess, I think this is probably the biggest contributing factor to my recent efficiency. I thrive in a routine and school makes routine a must. Since school started we’ve all been in a rhythm of set bedtimes, wake up times, meal times, etc. For some people that can be stifling, but I find it relieves me of so much decision fatigue to not have to decide what’s coming next all the time. Pair that with a family calendar and a meal plan to keep things organized and I’m living my best life.

I’m thinking it might be fun to write a ‘day in the life’ post to share my typical daily routine in the near future. Would you guys want to read that or is it narcissistic of me to assume that people would be interested in my day-to-day life? Be honest, it won’t hurt my feelings (much).

Friday Coffee Day

As if Friday wasn’t already great, my co-workers and I recently made a discovery that has made it even better. There is a local coffee shop in our teeny tiny town that will deliver for free with a three drink minimum. Guess how many of us there are in the office? That’s right, three, and coffee makes our day. We start thinking about our drink order Thursday afternoon, so we’ll be ready first thing Friday.

DIY Foaming Handsoap

Show of hands, who likes saving money? Me too, which is why I’m excited about making my own foaming hand soap to keep by my kitchen sink. I love foaming soaps because they feel like a little luxury that anyone can afford, especially when you make it yourself for pennies on the dollar. Read this post from Whole New Mom to find out how and then come back and thank me.

Bonus tip: You don’t have to buy a special foaming soap dispenser. You can totally reuse your empty Bath & Body foaming dispenser like I did.

What’s making your day right now? Let me know in the comments!

  1. My kids are back to school and we are on week 2 but I’m still feeling the struggle of getting my routine back to normal. Never seems like enough hours in the day. Although I’m enjoying the quiet while they are at school.

  2. Something about school starting is making me feel on top of things, too! I’m hoping this keeps up–I love being ahead.

    And I love a good day-in-the-life post!
